Thursday

Thanks for all the support girls! :)

She's ok, I think. They ran several tests on her, and all came back normal. Yay! So we're going to try a few things and take her back in a month and weigh her to see if she's still losing weight.

However, what wasn't so great was the bill. Holy crap! Don't get me wrong, she is totally worth it to me... but it just seems like a little much, you know? I'm not even going to post how much it cost, you all will think I'm nuts.

Now if I can just get the other one to quit hissing at her! Gawd! I guess she smells like "vet". And Witch Baby isn't the brightest kitty...

Any who...

We went to Kalena's awesome 6th Birthday party tonight! It was so much fun. I am convinced that Rachel is Super-Mom. Baby Noodle had a blast... so much fun he pooped his pants. And it was a big one! Must be Rachel's kiddos rubbing off on him... and with Ashley and Jaiden there... well, you know what happens around them!! hehe.

I'm going to try to burn the videos of B.N. that we have had on the computer since July. The videos are from Christmas last year through July! How pathetic... I know. It just takes FOREVER!

Check out Noodle. Such a wonderful little helper!!!

Maggie

So I took my sweet Maggie to the vet today. She seemed to have lost weight, and it was time for her check up. I think I've been avoiding going because I am afraid of what he will say... He being Dr. Cox, the best vet in the entire world in my opinion. My girls, Maggie and Witch Baby, used to see him when we lived in Nacogdoches. And then he moved away. Then when we moved here, I had a friend tell me about an awesome vet and it ended up being him! I was so excited!! At least I know that she's seeing the best.

He said at the visit that she had lost 3 lbs. From 13 to 10lbs. That's a lot for a cat. She's 10 years old, but is only inside. I love her so much. I have had her since I was 18. I think 10 is way to young to get sick... esp. an indoor kitty. Anyways, he is going to keep her and run some tests. I hope they don't cost too much, but either way... my Mags is totally worth every penny. She is such a sweet and gentle kitty, even to her sister that bosses her around...

Please just be thinking of my little Maggie...

Biscuit Brothers

So this past weekend, my parents were here and we all went down to Austin to see the Children's Music Festival, featuring the Biscuit Brothers. If you don't know, the Biscuit Brothers are from Austin and they play children's music. They also have a TV show that comes on at 7am on Saturdays (yeah, just a wee bit early for us). They film the show at Pioneer Farms in Austin and that was were the festival was. They were fabulous! We didn't get there until around 2, but we still had a nice time. Baby Noodle got to see Clifford the Big Red Dog too. He didn't want to stop hugging him! Too cute! I really thought that he would be scared of him. Silly Mama.

B.N. just danced and danced to the music. Now I know that you can leave the festival as long as you have a wrist band. We can go to his Uncle Joe and Aunt Kelli's house for a nap next year. Uncle Joe wasn't feeling well and didn't go with us, but Aunt Kelli went and she was a blast.

Here are some pictures:

Nice hat, huh...? Yeah, he wouldn't wear it and I needed one. Worked out well...

Oh and B.N. loved seeing the windmill... you know him and his "windimills"!

B.N.'s first "true love".

An angel singing...

I took this little video of B.N. when we were driving home from eating lunch the day that Hurricane Ike blew through. He must have been singing for about 5 minutes! I think it might be about an "umbrella" since I was using one to get into the car. Oh, and that's a "cheese" at the end when he sees the camera. You don't even know how many times I have watched this!

What a shame... McCain

Check this out:

I would never in my life vote for him, but this just makes me really sick. I had no idea about his first wife, and the accident.

GO OBAMA!

Been a LOOOONG time...

Sorry it's been so long. I just haven't had the time, well... the energy to post. I know, it's not that hard!

I have been taking naps with Baby Noodle. Which I try not to do, unless we have a rough night, or I am sick. And then I've read some really good books lately, and I do that in the evening. SOOO, those are my two free times... unless like now, I'm letting my

Baby Noodle is growing so much! I can't believe how much he can do. How do they learn so much in such a short amount of time? If you take in to consideration how long they have been alive and what they were able to do when they were born, it's a miracle in itself! So, I am convinced that the older we get, the "stupider" we get. They try to make us think we're getting smarter, but we're not.

So, I'm on my 6th sinus infection in the past year. I don't get it! Why now? I never had any problems with sinuses or allergies before Baby Noodle was born, but now... ever 3-4 months. And they kick my ass! I think one of the worst parts is that I can't hear, as most of you have noticed ;) and I lose my voice. Nice. When I have to use it I don't have it.

Well Baby Noodle is wanting to play, so I better go. I'll be back. :) Promise.

Ok, I'm a dumbass...

Those pictures for Google were from the beginning of the year or something. I just happened to leave the blinds open... for the 2nd time ever yesterday. I looked at some other buildings that they have worked on in the past months, and some of them weren't done. That's what you get for being paranoid, Claire... dumbass.

Oh, and I'm SUCH a rebel. I stayed out tonight until 10pm talking to two chicks in the Hillcrest Parking lot. One of which is going to have a baby uhh... hmmm... tonight? (I'm crossing my fingers Rachel... I won't dare say Aug. 17th. :) And the LLL master, Janie. I was just waiting for the "call". But I was surprised! He didn't call until 10 til 10! And I think he was really just worried that something had happened to me. I had such a good time just talking to Mamas with no babies!

Oh, and I am currently sipping on my "Sleepytime Tea". It's not bad, and I am getting sleepy. I think it's working.

My little Sunshine!

This is why I love our family bed. There is nothing better to wake up to than my little angel. These pictures help me remember why I love co-sleeping when he wakes at 2am.
OK, I was doing a search on Google maps today... now I know that you can get a satellite view of your home, and that's pretty cool. BUT, today I noticed you can get a "street view". Yeah, it's a picture of your house. And, what's even weirder is that it was a picture of my house... from yesterday! I remember because I cracked the blinds on one of the two windows in the guest room, which is in the front of the house. Noting to myself that I should keep that one closed bc you can see straight into the house.

So, I guess it's neat, but a little bit creepy to me. You know? AND, who takes these pictures? I have never seen anyone taking them. I'm going to see if a picture from today is there tomorrow. Hmmm.

As far as exercising yesterday, I only did a little less than 2 miles. I didn't get a morning walk in bc of the rain and only got a small one in last night bc of rain. And again, today no morning walk. But, I am not going to complain about the rain. God knows we need it. We did go up to the mall and walk. As much as you can with a bunch of people walking in herds. Entire "large" families.

Tonight is the LLL meeting. E said he would stay with Baby Noodle. Yay! If you don't know this, I don't get out much. I don't spend more that 3 hours away from BN. Mainly because there isn't anyone for him to be with besides me... or his Daddy. So, these meeting nights are a treat for me. Usually I go and get a Route 44 Diet Cherry Vanilla Coke and take it to the meeting. I don't take BN because its good for him to stay with Daddy w/o me, and it's probably a little boring for a 17 month old. :) But I love the LLL. It has been such wonderful support for me. I love the women in it too. They are such strong and positive women.

Ok, BN is up from his nap!

Not a great start...

Ok, so I didn't do too hot yesterday as far as eating. But, I think I walked about 5 miles. We took a walk along the river yesterday morning, and then around 8pm, BN and I went on a 3 mile walk down to 38th. That's my usual walking route when I'm here at home. It's a nice walk... up hill the first half and down hill on the way back home.

We tried out a little Mexican food restaurant down the street from the house. It was really good, and inexpensive (I had a chicken quesadilla (sp?) and shared with BN)! I alway like to support the neighborhood. And then we had some left over food from our friends catering job that Eric helped them with. I had boiled shrimp and some cottage cheese with some bread from Panera.

Last night BN woke at 2 and didn't go back to sleep until 4. Ugh. So, we woke around 9:15 this morning and went down to Poage park to meet the LLL moms. We had a nice time, and it wasn't too hot. It's raining now, so I don't know about any walking this afternoon. Maybe BN and I can go to the mall.

I have been having such a hard time going to sleep at night... I don't know why! I'm always tired. I guess I finally have some time to just sit and think and that's what gets me. I am going to try some "Sleepytime Tea". Maybe that will work. I need something natural bc I am still nursing.

BTW, thank you Marie for being so supportive. I have always admired your drive to be so healthy! And how you do it all with your little ones! We're going to miss you guys!

10 lbs.

Ok, I have got to lose it. I've known about it for about 2 months. In fact I freaked out on E on the ride back from the 4th of July. I think a lot has to do with Baby Noodle not nursing as much... and me still eating like he is! And now I am trying to feed him more soilds, and he's a real picky eater. I have NO idea where he got that from.

So, I think I'll start walking in the morning with BN. It's too hot in the evenings. It was 100 degrees at 6:30pm! I have a membership to a gym, but BN won't stay in the childwatch. And I'm not too crazy about leaving him. We're enjoying the pool... but not getting in the bathing suit. Ugh. So we're canceling the membership.. they close the pool on Labor Day.

My friend and I were walking about 3 miles a day in May, and I really could feel a difference. I felt so much better, and actually lost about 5 lbs. So, I know I can do this! I'm going to try to post what I do. I know that isn't very interesting... but I hope someone will get on my ass if I don't :).

I've always had to battle with my weight. I hate it. At one point in my life I actually weighed 180 lbs. That was when I was trying to finish up in school... and I had an awesome boyfriend (now husband) that has a super fast metabolism and a huge appetite. As soon as I had my promise ring, I realized I better get on the ball. I lost about 40 lbs. in 5 months. I promised myself I would never gain that much weight again. It was so hard getting it off.

Well, better hit the sack. I hope BN sleeps well tonight. It wasn't pretty last night... 11pm. and woke at 6:45am. Not cool.

Do you remember ever thinking what it would be like to be a parent? And you thought about how you would do things... and how you wouldn't do things? And if you are a parent now... how different the experience is?

Before we thought about children, I promised myself that I would stay-at-home with my children. And we would just have to wait til we were financially ready to do that. Well, I guess that did come true, some what. I mean, I am home with Baby Noodle, but we're struggling. But, I am so glad that I did make that promise to myself. I don't know what life would be life without my son by my side 24/7. I did childcare for about a month, and it was pure hell. That was the month that I decided to stay home... just living out my 2 weeks notice. I feel like with my being home, I can tend to his every need. I can explain everything to him... I can take the time he needs. Also, I know that he is in the best hands.

Breastfeeding was another thing I wanted to do. I didn't know much about it, just that it was the best for the baby. I had a friend at work that nursed her son for about a year, and a friend from college that nursed her little girl for 14 months. Now, I thought that my friends that nursed for 14 months was very patient, and brave to do it for that long... and I'll admit, a little weird. I knew that it was recommended for at least a year, so that was my goal. Well, when BN was born, we had our time with it. We had latch problems, and sore things... but we managed to make it through. Then, I got mastitis, which is like the "flu" for the boobs. It's medication is to continue to nurse as much as possible, which is painful, very painful. And you get to take a antibiotic 4 times a day. Even if that means you have to wake at 3 in the morning... keep them equally spread apart, or you'll pay later. So, we made it through that. Then we did fine, had a few plugged ducts and a bit of biting from BN, but it wasn't near worth weaning. Then before I knew it, it was a year! I thought that it would take forever for a year to roll around, and now that it was here, neither one of us wanted to stop. So, we didn't. Why should we?

I get looks from people when I say that we're still nursing. I don't care. That is one thing that I have learned is that BF mother's need to build a thick skin. You know that breast milk is the best thing for your baby, and that it changes for the needs of your child. Many countries nurse their children til they are 3 or 4. They have no other options. Well, we have options, and this is the best for us. Now he is 17 months and we still are nursing. I don't care what people say, I don't care what they think... he is my child and he is healthy as can be. It is recommended by the WHO to nurse until 2 years or as long as both parties are happy. Believe me, BF mom's learn their facts. You have to arm yourself with them to educate people.

Along with nursing my BN, I also donated almost 700 ounces to the Mother's Milk Bank in Austin from when he was born until December '07. I just made so much. What better to do that donate it to babies that need it. If you have every nursed, or lived with a woman that has, you know how precious that milk is. It's liquid gold! I am proud to have helped those needy babes.

The past week BN hasn't been nursing very much. Until this started happening, I had just taken it for granite that he would nurse until 2... or later, depending on what he wanted. Well, it hit me that maybe he was weaning. I became so upset. I wasn't ready! There is this bond that you form with your child. It's the most wonderful feeling... even if you're awake at 4 in the morning.

Celebrate Mamas and Nurslings!

Daddy's taking us to the Zoo tomorrow!

Wow. What a wonderful nights sleep last night, at least compared to all this last week. We got up around 9am and went to the zoo with Dada. Baby Noodle had a blast. He wanted to walk the entire time, so we didn't make it through all of the zoo.

BN has an obsession with "windmills". We love to look at Richard Scarry's Busy Town book, and BN points out all the different things that he knows. Well, his favorite page is the farm scene with the windmill in the middle of the page. He can even almost say "windmill". We couldn't really figure out why he liked it so much... maybe it just looks neat to him. Well, finally it dawned on me, months after he's been going crazy about it in the book, that our neighbors have a small yard windmill outside their house. BN has a perfect view from our dining room. So, there we go!

We saw one at the zoo today, and he just loved it.

What a week.

Ok, so Baby Noodle has something going on with him. I don't know what. I wish I did. I feel helpless when he's so upset. And, I think he's on a nursing strike. Ugh.

My Ps just left town this afternoon. They were here since Tuesday afternoon. Baby Noodle loves them so much. He thinks my Dad, Papa Noodle, hung the moon. And I must admit, I do too. We had a great visit, even though B.N. wasn't feeling that great. This is the last time they'll be up for a while. They're going on a trip to the east coast... to the mountains. Lucky.

Well, I better get on to bed. Tomorrow could be a early morning... since that seems to be the trend lately.
